Woodstock Animal Hospital was founded and opened in 1981 by Dr. Alan Hans, with a commitment to providing thoughtful, personal veterinary care to the pets and families of our community. More than four decades later, that philosophy remains at the heart of how we practice medicine.

Today, Woodstock Animal Hospital remains a privately owned, independent companion animal practice, providing comprehensive veterinary care for dogs and cats throughout Woodstock and the surrounding Hudson Valley. We believe in individualized medicine, honest conversations, and building lasting relationships with our clients and their pets.

As a general practice, we’re here for everything from routine wellness and preventive care to illness, injury, surgery, dentistry, and the changes that come with a pet’s senior years. And while we are not a specialty or emergency hospital, our capabilities extend well beyond the basics.

We offer a wide range of in-house diagnostics, allowing us to investigate many medical concerns right here in our hospital. When a patient needs care beyond what we can provide, we’ll help guide you toward the appropriate specialist or emergency facility while remaining part of your pet’s ongoing care.

Being independent gives us the freedom to approach each patient as an individual — to discuss options, consider the needs of both pet and owner, and make medical decisions based on what makes sense for the animal in front of us.
