Dr. Maja

Lead Veterinarian | Medical Director

Dr. Maja Stodte

Dr. Maja’s journey to veterinary medicine has been anything but conventional. A natural problem-solver with a lifelong love of animals and people, she began her career in academia, earning a graduate degree in philosophy. After moving overseas to care for her father, her path shifted, leading her to veterinary school in Berlin, where she developed a special interest in wildlife medicine. Craving the connection and continuity of clinical care, she transitioned into small animal practice in the south of England before relocating to the Berkshires with her twin boys six years ago. She is deeply committed to her work at WAH, where she provides thoughtful, individualized care to each patient and builds lasting relationships with the families she serves. Her goal is to help create a space where both people and their beloved companions feel genuinely supported, respected, and cared for.

Outside of work, Dr. Maja can be found reading, cooking, swimming, boating, and adventuring with her small children — and her very large dog Rufus.

Veterinarian

Dr. Amy Adams

As a child, Dr. Adams always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She started by tending to her neighbor’s cat, and by 16 years of age, she began working in the puppy room at the North Shore Animal League. Her dreams of traveling and becoming a Vet led her to Murdoch University in Western Australia, where she completed her Veterinary degree. Dr. Adams has practiced small animal medicine in the Hudson Valley for 15 years. On weekends, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, dog, cat, and guinea pigs.

Practice Manager

Kim

Kim is a Woodstock native and has been part of the Woodstock Animal Hospital team since December 1988—nearly four decades with the practice. In her 38 years here, she’s done just about every job in the building, from kennel care and technician work to reception, and has spent much of that time serving as our practice manager. She graduated from Onteora High School and Ulster County Community College. Kim and her husband, Tom, have two adult children, Kate and Cody, and three granddaughters.

At home, she stays just as busy with two Great Danes, Jack and Wyatt; her cat, Lincoln; and what can best be described as a small farm’s worth of beloved livestock pets.

Licensed Veterinary Technician | Office Manager

Breana

Breana graduated from SUNY Ulster’s Veterinary Technician program and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in January 2012. She was raised on her families farm —caring for horses, cows, goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits, along with her dogs and cats before and after a full day at the animal hospital. When she isn’t working as a technician, Breana is managing the office—handling scheduling, ordering, estimates, and keeping all the fine details in order. She also manages to remember nearly every client’s first and last name, along with their pets, both past and present.

In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses, hiking, hunting, fishing, kayaking, and just about any activity that gets her outdoors.

Veterinary Technician

Kathleen

Kathy is originally from Columbia County, New York. She earned her associate’s degree from Columbia-Greene Community College and completed veterinary technician coursework through St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida. Kathy joined our team in August of 2011.

Our most seasoned team member, Kathy has worked in veterinary medicine since 1985. Animals have always been a part of her life—she grew up around horses and spent time working with Thoroughbreds before beginning her career in veterinary medicine. Over the years, she has remained deeply dedicated to her craft, always eager to keep learning and improving. She takes advantage of every continuing education opportunity she can and continues to be one of the hardest workers in the clinic.

An active member of her community, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family, weekend getaways, cooking, and the occasional spa day. Kathy lives in Phoenicia with her son and their dog Peppa.

Veterinary Technician

Lauren

Originally from Long Island, Lauren studied at SUNY Delhi and began working in veterinary medicine in 2008. After moving to the area in 2015, she became a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and spent the next decade working in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory, focusing on pathology and cytology and helping process and evaluate samples from clinics across the region. While the lab provided invaluable experience, she missed the pace of clinical practice and working directly with animals and their people, which led her to join our team in November 2025. We’re just as excited as she is to have her as part of our clinic family.

At home, Lauren shares life with two dogs, four cats, and a whole lot of chickens, and enjoys crafting, homesteading, and all things hands-on.

Veterinary Assistant

Christina

Christina grew up in Port Ewen and has lived in Woodstock for over 10 years. She graduated from the University at Albany with a BS in Biological Sciences. As a child, she brought her cats to see Dr. Hans at the old Port Ewen office. She officially joined our team in February 2022, though her dog Mojave has been a patient here for over 14 years.

Before pursuing her science degree, Christina was originally an art major. Around the clinic she wears many hats—she manages the website, serves as our unofficial in-house florist, and, together with Emile, makes up the “IT department.” Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, office supplies, photography, and all things crafty.

Along with Mojave, she shares her home with his brother Bernie and two cats, Chomsky and Bukowski.

Client Care Specialist

Emile

Originally from the Bronx, Emile joined the team in 2013 after leaving a high-stress career in Manhattan to move closer to the mountains—where he could ski all winter. He now lives in the Catskills with his two dogs, Charlie and Jodie, and his cats, Laverne, Shirley, and Oscar.

Emile is our clinic’s Client Care Specialist—the person who gets along with everyone: clients, coworkers, and even the more “cautious” dogs. He’s not afraid to raise his voice (usually unintentionally), and if you walk into the office and think, “Wow, it’s quiet in here,” chances are it’s his day off.

In his free time, Emile enjoys skiing and watching sports with his dogs.
